Job Description
This role is ideal for a skilled machinist who enjoys working in a precision-focused machine shop environment on a day shift schedule (Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM). You will set up and operate manual and CNC mills and lathes, build workholding fixtures, interpret detailed blueprints with tight tolerances, and perform inspections and routine maintenance to ensure high-quality parts and reliable equipment performance.
Responsibilities- Set up and operate manual mills and lathes to produce precision components according to specifications.
- Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes, including 3- and 4-axis vertical mills and 2-axis lathes with live tooling.
- Build and assemble workholding fixtures to support efficient and accurate machining operations.
- Follow manufacturing outlines, process sheets, and written instructions to complete jobs accurately and on time.
- Troubleshoot machining issues, including tooling, setup, and dimensional problems, and implement effective solutions.
- Measure parts using precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers to verify conformance to blueprint dimensions.
- Interpret and work from detailed blueprints, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Deburr parts and perform finishing operations to meet quality and cosmetic standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with shop standards.
- Perform routine machine maintenance to ensure reliable operation and extend equipment life.
- Handle and lift materials and components up to 50 lbs unassisted as part of daily tasks.
- Multitask across multiple jobs or machines while maintaining quality and efficiency.
- Work independently with minimal supervision while communicating effectively with team members as needed.
- Carry out other related machining and shop duties as needed to support production requirements.
- Proven ability to set up and operate manual mills and lathes in a production or job shop environment.
- Hands-on experience with CNC 3- and 4-axis vertical mills, including setup and operation.
- Experience operating 2-axis lathes with live tooling for complex turning operations.
- Strong blueprint reading skills, including the ability to interpret GD&T and tight tolerances.
- Proficiency with precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and related inspection equipment.
- Ability to build and use workholding fixtures to support accurate and repeatable machining.
- Mechanical aptitude and solid understanding of machining processes and cutting tools.
- Capability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted as part of normal duties.
- Ability to multitask and work independently while maintaining high quality and productivity.
- Eligibility to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.
- Experience troubleshooting machining issues, including tool wear, chatter, and dimensional nonconformance.
- Familiarity with programming or editing CNC programs at the machine control.
- Exposure to or experience with SolidWorks or similar mechanical design software.
- Experience working with ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality management systems (preferred).
- Background in mechanical or machining disciplines, with practical hands-on shop experience.
- Comfort working with mechanical equipment and shop machinery in a production environment.

The schedule is a day shift, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, providing consistent hours and predictable routines.
