Special Education Teacher | New Bedford, Massachusetts

Qualifications & Experience:

• Current DESE Special Education Teaching Certification (grades 5-12) required
• Prior experience working in high school or secondary education preferred
• Ability to adapt curriculum and instruction for diverse learning needs within an inclusion classroom
• Strong communication skills to foster positive relationships with students, staff, and families
• Commitment to collaborative, student-centered educational practices

Role & Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s strengths and needs
• Provide direct instruction and support in both classroom and small-group settings
• Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusive practices
• Monitor student progress, maintaining accurate records and documentation
• Participate in team meetings, IEP reviews, and ongoing professional development
• Foster a positive, respectful, and productive classroom atmosphere
