Imports Entry Writer – 77067
Position Type: Temporary-to-Hire
Work Location: Onsite
We are seeking an experienced Imports Entry Writer to join a growing freight forwarding team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in import customs entry processing, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced logistics environment.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare and process U.S. Customs import entries accurately and timely.
  • Review commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and other import documentation.
  • Classify shipments and ensure compliance with U.S. Customs and Partner Government Agency (PGA) requirements.
  • Coordinate with U.S. Customs, customs brokers, carriers, steamship lines, and government agencies to facilitate cargo clearance.
  • Communicate with customers regarding shipment status, documentation requirements, and clearance issues.
  • Resolve customs holds, discrepancies, and documentation problems promptly.
  • Maintain accurate shipment records and ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Work closely with operations, warehouse, and customer service teams to ensure seamless import processing.
  • Stay current on import regulations, tariffs, and customs procedures.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of recent experience as an Import Entry Writer in a freight forwarding or customs brokerage environment (required).
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations and import documentation.
  • Experience processing entries through ACE and customs brokerage software.
  • Familiarity with HTS classification, customs valuation, and duty calculations.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple shipments while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) is a plus but not required.
  • Experience with CargoWise, Descartes, or similar freight forwarding/customs software preferred.
