CentralCare is seeking a  skilled and experienced Medical Laboratory Technician to provide full-time services at Joint Base McGuire AFB, NJ . This is a great opportunity for a Medical Laboratory Technician  to support our military and their families as federal civilian contractors. 

Location: McGuire Air Froce Base, New Hanover, NJ

Full time Monday to Friday 0800-1630 (8:00 am to 4:30 pm)

Compensation:
Rate: $32.50/hr.
H&W: $4.57/hr.
PTO: 80hrs accrued annually
Sick Leave: 56hrs accrued annually
Holidays: 11 paid holidays annually

Medical Laboratory Technician Responsibilities: 

Education:

Graduate from a medical laboratory technician training program accredited by the 
National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) or the 
Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or educational program 
acceptable to the American Medical Technologist (AMT). 


Certification: Certification/registration as determined by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), or American Medical Technologist (AMT).


Required Experience: 

One year of experience (shall demonstrate clinical competency within the last two years)

Medical Laboratory Technician Core Responsibilities: 

 Perform immunohematology testing, storage, selection and distribution of blood and 
 blood products. 
 Apply principles of basic laboratory procedures using knowledge of College of 
 American Pathologists (CAP), Association for the Advancement of Blood & 
 Biotherapies (AABB), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and local standard 
 operating procedures. 
 Determine the suitability of specimens for analysis. Prepare specimens for analysis 
 and ensure that the physiologic state of the properties is maintained. 
 Prepare reagents and primary reference materials as necessary. Calibrate, 
 standardize, adjust, and maintain instruments. Verify correct instrument operation 
 using established procedures and quality control checks. Identify the cause of 
 common problems and make simple repairs. 
 Recognize and react to indicators of malfunction. Locate and implement corrections. 
 Obtain analytical data, convert to a prescribed unit of reporting, as necessary, and 
 correlate data to verify results. 
 Conduct quality control procedures on equipment, reagents and products and 
 maintain proper records for quality control and quality assurance reports. 
 Possess the ability to lift 50-60 pounds in order to prepare specimens for transport. 
 Prepare biological waste for proper disposal. 
 Perform light general cleaning of work areas such as collection of trash, autoclaving 
 of specimens, cleaning of bench tops and light dusting. 
 Participate/perform the prescribed QC and CAP proficiency testing (PT) programs. 
 Participate in required equipment, in-service training and continuing medical 
 education. 
 Ensure safe work environment and employ safe habits.
