Matrix Providers is hiring a Pharmacy Technician to join our team of talented professionals providing healthcare services to Military Service Members and their families at Naval Health Clinic Quantico, VA.
- Employment Status: Full-time
- Compensation: This is an hourly position, paid bi-weekly
- $22-$22.89/hour , H&W $4.57
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, between the hours of 6:30 am and 7:00 pm. Shifts will normally be scheduled for an 8.5 to 9 hour period, to include an uncompensated 30 to 60 minute lunch break.
- Current schedule: Monday to Friday 7:30 am to 4:00 pm

Requirements:
- Education: Certificate; Graduate from a formal pharmacy technician program accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) or a formal pharmacy technician program (i.e., technical, hospital, or retail-based program) or a formal medical services training program of the United States Military.
- Certification:
- Certified by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Experience: One year of experience as a pharmacy technician after graduation.
- Licensure: None
Job Summary:
- Perform a full range of pharmacy technician duties consistent with education, training, experience, and assigned responsibilities.
- Dispense medications by filling new and refill prescriptions, entering prescription orders, and maintaining accurate pharmacy records.
- Provide medication-related support by assisting patients and providers, monitoring for drug interactions, and reporting adverse drug reactions.
- Maintain productivity standards comparable to other pharmacy personnel while ensuring timely, accurate, and complete documentation.
- Comply with infection prevention, aseptic techniques, safety procedures, and emergency response protocols to ensure a safe patient care environment.
- Participate in quality improvement, peer review, performance improvement, risk management, and medication safety initiatives, including drug storage inspections, expired medication reviews, and workload reporting.
- Manage pharmacy inventory by ordering, stocking, restocking, maintaining supplies, and generating inventory and "not in stock" reports.
- Utilize Department of Defense healthcare systems (e.g., CHCS, AHLTA, MHS GENESIS, Essentris, ADS, and CIS) and maintain responsiveness through DoD email and voicemail.
- Complete all required command training, continuing education, staff meetings, and provide in-service training or clinical guidance to government personnel as directed.
- Maintain professional accountability by adhering to legal and regulatory requirements, protecting patient rights, supporting the Family Advocacy Program, complying with documentation standards, and working collaboratively with the healthcare team.
- The pharmacy serves an average of 80–100 customers per day across multiple service areas.
- Pharmacy Technicians rotate through various responsibilities, including the clinic dispensing window, drive-through pharmacy, and prescription filling, to maintain workflow and proficiency.
- The clinic maintains a steady, fast-paced environment that requires strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
- Training is ongoing and primarily hands-on, with direct instruction and mentorship provided by the department's Senior Enlisted Leader.
- Electronic systems training, including MHS GENESIS, is provided as part of the onboarding process.
- Delays in obtaining system access can occasionally impact the training timeline; however, once access is established, most Pharmacy Technicians are able to work independently within 1–2 weeks.
- Supervisors and experienced team members remain available to provide guidance and answer questions as needed to ensure continued success.
