Service Manager — Established Auto Repair Shop


Location: Marathon, FL (Florida Keys) Job Type: Full-Time Pay: Competitive, based on experience

About Us We are a trusted, family-owned auto repair shop that has served the Marathon community since 1974. We're looking for an experienced Service Manager to lead our day-to-day shop operations, keep our team running smoothly, and deliver the kind of honest, high-quality service our customers have relied on for 50 years.

What You'll Do

• Oversee the daily operations of the shop, ensuring everything runs efficiently and on schedule
• Schedule and coordinate customer appointments and technician workloads
• Order and manage parts inventory, ensuring the right parts arrive on time and at the right cost
• Supervise mechanics and technicians, reviewing and quality-checking completed work
• Write clear, accurate repair estimates for customers
• Identify and recommend additional services (upselling) based on vehicle needs
• Overcome customer objections and resolve complaints professionally and promptly
• Lead, motivate, and support the team — setting a strong example of teamwork and accountability
• Monitor shop performance and drive revenue growth through efficient operations and strong customer relationships
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environment
• Ensure compliance with shop policies, safety standards, and industry regulations
• Track key metrics (labor hours, parts costs, customer satisfaction, revenue) and report to ownership

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience in automotive service management, shop supervision, or a similar leadership role
• Strong knowledge of automotive repair processes and terminology (ASE certification a plus)
• Experience writing estimates and working with shop management software
• Excellent communication and customer service skills — comfortable resolving conflict and handling objections
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, coach, and motivate a team of mechanics
• Sales-minded approach to identifying additional service opportunities without compromising trust
• Highly organized, with the ability to multitask and manage priorities in a fast-paced shop
• Basic computer skills (scheduling software, email, inventory systems)
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record
• Ability to stand, move around the shop, and occasionally lift parts/equipment as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in a service advisor, service manager, or shop foreman role
• Familiarity with parts ordering/vendor relationships
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
