Transportation & Public Works Attorney

LOD at Consilio is seeking a Transportation & Public Works Attorney for a long-term contract opportunity supporting the legal department of a large municipal government. This attorney will provide transactional legal support to departments responsible for transportation, infrastructure, and public works, advising on a wide range of operational, legislative, and contracting matters.

Responsibilities

• Serve as legal counsel to departments overseeing transportation and public works initiatives.
• Interpret federal, state, and local laws and regulations and provide practical legal advice to internal stakeholders.
• Draft and analyze ordinances, resolutions, amendments, and other legislative materials, and monitor pending legislation affecting departmental operations.
• Prepare legal opinions on questions of law, policy, and procedure.
• Draft, review, revise, and negotiate contracts and other legal documents.
• Review legal matters, identify potential risks, and advise internal clients on appropriate courses of action.
• Collaborate with departmental leadership and legal colleagues to support ongoing operational and strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active membership in the Georgia Bar in good standing.
• Approximately 4–6 years of transactional legal experience, including drafting, legal analysis, and client counseling.
• Strong legal research, writing, and contract review skills.
• Experience with municipal, county, constitutional, transportation, public works, public contracting, or local government law is preferred.

Opportunity Details

• Location: Atlanta, GA (4 days onsite, 1 day remote)
• Schedule: Full-time (40 hours/week)
• Duration: 6–12 months, with potential for long-term opportunities
• Target Start: August or September 2026
• Pay Rate: $65/hour
