Kitchen Steward

About the Role:

As a Kitchen Steward in our Hospitality, Tourism and Recreation industry, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the cleanliness and organization of our kitchen. Your major end result will be to maintain a high standard of hygiene and sanitation in the kitchen, ensuring that all equipment and utensils are clean and ready for use. You will also be responsible for assisting the kitchen team in basic food preparation and ensuring that all food safety regulations are adhered to.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience in a similar role
• Knowledge of basic food safety regulations and guidelines
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in food safety and sanitation
• Experience working in a commercial kitchen
• Ability to operate kitchen equipment, such as dishwashers and food processors
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

Responsibilities:

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including washing dishes, cleaning surfaces, and mopping floors
• Assist the kitchen team in basic food preparation, such as chopping vegetables and preparing salads
• Ensure that all equipment and utensils are clean and ready for use
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
• Report any maintenance or repair issues to the kitchen supervisor

Skills:

As a Kitchen Steward, you will utilize your knowledge of basic food safety regulations and guidelines to ensure that our kitchen is clean and organized. You will also use your excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with the kitchen team and report any issues to the supervisor. Additionally, your ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work in a fast-paced environment will be essential in meeting the demands of the job. Operating kitchen equipment and assisting in basic food preparation will also require your attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
