Education Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred; technical or vocational training in metal fabrication, welding, or manufacturing is a plus.
- Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
- Basic math skills, including measurements, geometry, and trigonometry, to perform accurate layouts and calculations.
Job Duties
- Fabricate and assemble structural steel and sheet metal components for machinery, buildings, bridges, tanks, ovens, and other industrial applications.
- Interpret blueprints, job orders, and verbal instructions to plan fabrication layouts and determine production sequences.
- Measure, mark, cut, bend, weld, and assemble metal materials while ensuring precise dimensions and quality standards.
- Set up and operate fabrication equipment, including welders, press brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, drill presses, CNC machines, punch presses, and lathes.
- Build templates and fixtures, inspect finished parts using measuring tools, and verify all work meets specifications and safety requirements.
Experience Requirements
- Previous experience as a Metal Fabricator, Structural Metal Fabricator, Sheet Metal Fabricator, or in a manufacturing or fabrication shop preferred.
- Experience operating fabrication equipment such as welding machines, press brakes, shears, drill presses, rolls, flame cutters, CNC machines, punch presses, or lathes.
- Knowledge of metal fabrication techniques, welding shrinkage, material properties, and quality standards.
Physical Capabilities
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift materials throughout the workday.
- Frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds, with heavier lifting performed using appropriate equipment or team assistance.
- Manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and attention to detail required to safely operate fabrication machinery and precision measuring tools.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, noise, and welding equipment.
