Job Title: Phlebotomist I
Location: Bartlesville, OK 74006
Duration: 3+ months (Temp-to-Perm Possible)
Shift: Monday-Friday | 8:00 AM-5:00 PM (1st Shift)

Summary:
The main function of a phlebotomist is to perform blood specimen collection and assist with patient care in a fast-paced Patient Service Center. The role also includes specimen processing, patient registration support, troubleshooting, workflow recommendations, and delivering excellent customer service.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform venipuncture using straight needles and butterfly needles.
  • Collect, label, centrifuge, process, split, freeze, and package specimens according to established laboratory procedures.
  • Ensure accurate patient identification and specimen labeling.
  • Properly explain the venipuncture and specimen collection process to patients in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Understand and accurately follow physicians' test orders.
  • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and verify all information before processing.
  • Store specimens according to required temperature and transport protocols to maintain specimen integrity.
  • Perform specimen processing and assist with front desk duties, including patient check-in and kiosk assistance as needed.
  • Update patient information and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Follow OSHA, DEP, and laboratory safety regulations.
  • Participate in annual department training.
  • Answer telephone calls and respond to patient and physician inquiries professionally.
  • Perform approximately 40-60 blood draws per day in a high-volume patient service environment.
  • Work collaboratively with a team while providing exceptional patient care, including pediatric patients.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid Phlebotomy certification (where required by state regulations).
  • Minimum of 6 months of recent experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced laboratory, hospital, or patient service center.
  • Pediatric phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours).
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience.
