Duration: 3+ Months
Location: 7207 Gessner Rd Houston, TX 77040
Mon-Fri - 7:00 A.M - 7:00 P.M (8 hours a day) This will be a floater position; will be covering different site throughout Katy, TX and surrounding area. Position Highlights- Daily Blood Draws: 60-100
- Work Environment: Laboratory and Client Offices
- Facility Type: Patient Service Center (PSC)
- Standing Requirement: Standing only while performing venipunctures
- Patient Population: Geriatric to Pediatric
- Work Setting: Team environment
- Training: 2 weeks total
- 1 week at the Main Lab
- 1 week of ongoing field training

The Phlebotomist II is responsible for performing blood collection and specimen processing while ensuring compliance with established laboratory procedures. The role also includes troubleshooting, workflow recommendations, and maintaining accurate patient and specimen documentation.
Key Responsibilities- Perform venipuncture using straight and butterfly needles.
- Collect blood, urine, fecal, and other specimens according to established procedures.
- Properly identify, label, centrifuge, split, freeze, and package specimens for transport.
- Verify physician orders and match laboratory requisitions to specimen tubes.
- Store specimens at the appropriate temperature to maintain specimen integrity.
- Update patient information accurately and maintain required documentation.
- Record maintenance data and perform equipment decontamination.
- Explain specimen collection procedures clearly and professionally to patients.
- Understand and follow all physician orders and laboratory protocols.
- Comply with OSHA, DEP, and all laboratory safety regulations.
- Participate in annual departmental training.
- Respond to telephone inquiries and communicate laboratory results as appropriate.
- Valid Phlebotomy certification (where required by state regulations).
- Minimum 6 months of recent experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced laboratory or hospital environment.
- Strong specimen processing experience, including labeling, centrifuging, and packaging.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 2-4 years of overall phlebotomy experience preferred.
