Position: Phlebotomist II
Location: Tulsa, OK 74133 (8131 S Memorial Dr, Suite 104 - Onsite)
Duration: 3 Months
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM (40 hours/week)
Employment Type: Full-Time | Contract-to-Perm Potential
Job Details
- Patient Volume: Approximately 15 patients per day
- Patient Population: All age groups
- Work Environment: Patient Service Center (PSC); fast-paced, team-oriented setting
- Training: Department-specific onboarding and annual compliance training
- Standing Requirement: Must be able to stand for extended periods throughout the shift
- Floating: May be required to float to nearby locations based on business needs
- Travel: None
Key Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and specimen collection using straight and butterfly needles
- Collect blood, urine, and other specimens following established procedures
- Accurately label, centrifuge, split, freeze, package, and prepare specimens for transport
- Verify laboratory requisitions and ensure specimen accuracy before processing
- Properly explain collection procedures to patients while providing excellent customer service
- Maintain specimen integrity by following temperature and handling protocols
- Record maintenance and decontamination data as required
- Update patient information accurately in the system
- Follow OSHA, DEP, and laboratory safety guidelines at all times
- Answer telephone inquiries and assist with laboratory-related questions
- Participate in required department training and compliance programs
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 6 months of recent phlebotomy experience in a fast-paced laboratory, hospital, or Patient Service Center (PSC)
- Experience performing venipuncture with straight and butterfly needles
- Experience with specimen processing, including labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting/splitting, freezing, and packaging
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and proper specimen handling procedures
- Comfortable working in a collaborative team environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Phlebotomy Certification (where required by state law)
- Color vision is required
Preferred Qualifications
- Pediatric phlebotomy experience
- Strong communication and patient interaction skills
- Previous experience working with patients of all ages
