Job Title: Mechanical Assembler

Job Description

This role involves assembling mechanical components and structures for campers and trailers by following detailed blueprints, assembly instructions, and parts lists. You will use hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices to ensure each component meets specifications and quality standards. The position requires strong attention to detail, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with opportunities for full-time hours and overtime.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare work to be accomplished by reviewing assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists, and by gathering required parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.
  • Position parts and subassemblies accurately by using templates or reading and interpreting measurements.
  • Assemble components by examining connections for correct fit and securely fastening parts and subassemblies.
  • Verify that completed components meet specifications by measuring and inspecting finished work.
  • Resolve assembly problems by adjusting or altering dimensions to meet specifications and notifying the supervisor when additional resources are required.
  • Keep equipment operational by performing preventive maintenance according to manufacturer’s instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, and requesting repairs when necessary.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by following all procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Manage supplies inventory by checking stock levels, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders, and verifying receipt of materials.
  • Conserve resources by using equipment and supplies efficiently to achieve production goals.
  • Document work activities by completing production and quality forms and accurately logging labor hours.
  • Contribute to team success by supporting coworkers and completing related tasks as needed to meet overall production objectives.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to read and use a measuring tape accurately.
  • Proficiency with hand tools and power tools in a manufacturing or construction environment.
  • Experience working in construction, manufacturing, or general labor roles involving mechanical assembly.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and assembly instructions.
  • Competence in using tape measures, templates, and other measuring devices to ensure accurate assembly.
  • Mechanical assembly skills, including fitting, fastening, and verifying components.
  • Willingness and availability to work full-time and overtime as needed.
  • Ability to work safely and effectively in hot and humid conditions and around materials such as fiberglass and foam.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
  • Ability to follow established procedures, rules, and regulations in a production environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in construction or manufacturing environments, particularly roles involving assembly work.
  • Familiarity with lamination processes or working with laminated components such as side walls, ceilings, and floors.
  • Comfort working with hand tools, power tools, and mechanical equipment over extended periods.
  • Experience completing production and quality documentation and logging labor hours.
  • Ability to troubleshoot minor equipment issues and perform basic preventive maintenance.
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate with others to meet production targets.

Work Environment

This position is based in a lamination building where teams assemble side walls, ceilings, and floors for campers and trailers. You work on a 1st shift schedule, with shifts typically starting between 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. and ending between 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., with the expectation of full-time hours and potential overtime. The environment is hot and humid, and you will be exposed to materials such as fiberglass and foam, requiring consistent use of appropriate personal protective equipment. The work is hands-on and physically active, involving the regular use of hand tools, power tools, measuring tapes, and other mechanical assembly equipment in a structured manufacturing setting.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.90 - $17.00/hr.
