Operating Room Technician | Birmingham, Alabama

Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Certification and minimum 2+ years Surgical Tech / Operating Room Tech experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A skilled healthcare professional is needed to assist in surgical settings, supporting operating room teams in a dynamic environment. This contract position offers the opportunity to contribute expertise in perioperative patient care and surgical procedures alongside experienced staff.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Experience as a Nursing Operating Room Technician (ORT) or Surgical Technologist
• Credentials as a Certified Surgical Technologist, or equivalent experience as a Non-certified Surgical Tech
• Strong understanding of aseptic techniques and surgical instruments
• Ability to anticipate surgical team needs and respond efficiently
• Attention to detail and solid organizational skills in fast-paced conditions
• Commitment to patient safety and infection control practices
• Excellent communication with surgeons, nurses, and fellow techs
• High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a Surgical Technology program preferred

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare operating rooms with required instruments, supplies, and equipment before procedures
• Assist the surgical team during operations by passing instruments and maintaining a sterile field
• Count sponges, needles, and instruments to ensure accurate inventory before and after procedures
• Handle specimens for laboratory analysis per facility protocols
• Support patient positioning and draping under the direction of the surgical team
• Clean and restock operating rooms following surgeries to meet readiness standards
• Maintain and prepare sterile and non-sterile instruments and equipment

$1,331 - $1,408/Week Estimated weekly earnings represent hourly wages, based on 40 hours per week, and expense reimbursement for eligible candidates. The actual amount may vary based on hours worked, eligibility for reimbursements, and seasonal adjustments.
