Job Title: Touch Up Painter

Job Description

The Touch Up Painter ensures the final cosmetic quality of products before shipment by identifying and repairing minor paint imperfections and accurately applying serial tags and labels. This role requires strong attention to detail, steady hands, and the ability to follow detailed work instructions and quality standards in a fast-paced production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect products for paint chips, scratches, and other cosmetic imperfections prior to shipment.
  • Perform precise paint touch-ups and repair minor surface defects to meet established quality standards.
  • Accurately place serial tags and labels on products according to specifications and work instructions.
  • Follow detailed written and verbal work instructions and quality guidelines for each product line.
  • Verify correct tag placement and serial number accuracy before final sign-off.
  • Handle finished products carefully to prevent additional damage or cosmetic defects.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe touch-up and finishing work area.
  • Report recurring defects, quality issues, or process concerns to the supervisor or appropriate contact.
  • Operate within paint shop, finishing, fabrication, polishing, and grinding areas as needed for touch-up and finishing tasks.
  • Perform other related tasks and duties as assigned to support production and quality goals.

Essential Skills

  • Strong attention to detail with a keen eye for cosmetic imperfections such as chips, scratches, and surface defects.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal directions accurately and consistently.
  • Steady hand and good manual dexterity for precise touch-up and detailed close-up work.
  • Ability to work efficiently while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Comfort working in paint shop, finishing, fabrication, polishing, and grinding environments.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Physical ability to frequently stand, bend, and reach during the shift.
  • Manual dexterity for detailed, close-up work on finished products.
  • Ability to lift and move materials as needed within the production area.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Prior experience with paint touch-up, finishing, or similar cosmetic quality work is a plus, but not required.
  • in quality inspection or quality control is beneficial.
  • Experience working with finishing machines or in fabrication and polishing environments is an advantage.
  • Comfort working in a non-climate-controlled plant environment.
  • Willingness to wear required personal protective equipment, including steel-toed boots.

Work Environment

This position operates on a first shift schedule, Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with an occasional Friday worked until lunchtime as needed for production demands. Work takes place in a non-climate-controlled plant, which means it can be hot during warm weather and cold during cooler seasons. The environment includes paint shop, finishing, fabrication, polishing, and grinding areas where cosmetic and finishing work is performed. Personal protective equipment is required; steel-toed boots are necessary, and additional PPE such as welding hoods, gloves, safety glasses, and jackets is provided. The role involves frequent standing, bending, reaching, and performing repetitive tasks in a hands-on, production-focused setting.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $19.00/hr.
