An exciting full-time contract opportunity is available for a Special Education Teacher with experience in elementary settings. Located in the Grass Valley area and easily accessible from Auburn, this role will work within a supportive school environment, guiding students in a Specialized Academic Instruction (SDC) classroom. You’ll have the chance to make a significant impact on a caseload of 9-10 students, with a class cap of 14, providing individualized instruction and managing roughly 9-10 IEPs across the school year.

Schedule details include working Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 2:30 pm, with the possibility of longer days for IEP meetings, though most are scheduled within the workday. Students attend 7:55 am to 2 pm Monday through Thursday, and there is an early release at 1 pm on Fridays. The assignment runs from August 18, 2026, through June 8, 2027.

Key Qualifications:

  • Hold an active California Mild/Moderate Education Specialist teaching credential
  • Prior experience as a Special Education Teacher in an SDC or comparable classroom
  • Comprehensive understanding of IEP processes, compliance, and individualized lesson planning
  • Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement specialized instruction for elementary students with diverse learning needs
  • Manage and coordinate annual IEPs and progress monitoring
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, staff, and families
  • Maintain accurate student records and provide regular updates
  • Support students’ social, emotional, and academic development
