At Hermansen Elementary, you’ll work within a Structured Teaching and Learning Room (STLR) self-contained program, focusing on students with Autism and Functional Communication needs. This position offers the opportunity to closely support a caseload of up to 13 students in a nurturing, structured environment, helping foster communication and life skills.
At Martinez Middle School, become a co-teacher in Supported Education classrooms with a maximum caseload of 13 students. Collaborate with general education teachers, adapting curriculum and instruction to ensure all students thrive within an inclusive classroom community.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teaching Certification for Illinois
- Experience with Autism, Functional Communication, and diverse learning needs preferred
- Strong collaborative skills and the ability to adapt instruction for a variety of learners
- Commitment to fostering a safe, structured, and positive classroom climate
- Comfortable working full-time in a contract role
Responsibilities:
- Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and instructional strategies
- Provide tailored support in either a self-contained or co-teaching setting
- Work closely with families, therapists, and educational teams to promote student growth
- Collect progress data and contribute to IEP reviews and meetings
- Maintain a highly organized and welcoming classroom environment
