Aircraft Mechanic - RAFB

General DescriptionSupport daily repair and manufacturing operations for incoming workload for C-5, C-17, C-130, F-15, J-STARS, RQ-4, Global Hawk and other workload as required.DutiesInstall, adjust, align, troubleshoot, and perform final functional and operational tests on a variety of major aircraft systems, their assemblies and componentsPerform flight line maintenance of aircraft including functional testing, troubleshooting and repairing all airframe mechanical systems their assemblies and components such as flight control systems, airframe, landing gear, engines, etc.Perform post assembly checkout, adjustment, and repair of overhauled and modified aircraft to prepare for and correct deficiencies found on functional check flights. Identify malfunctions and determines corrective action requiredPerforms engine removal and installation, jacking, leveling, and other routine tasksRead and understand data and settings from cockpit instrumentation and gaugesInitiate requisitions for needed parts and supplies Other duties as assignedEducation/Experience RequirementsHigh School Diploma or equivalentMust have at least two years of recent verifiable experience Knowledge of a wide variety of parts, components, subsystems, and assemblies such as ejection seats, nuclear shielding or similar self-contained systemsExperience using standard and specialized tools and test equipment including fixtures, templates, scales, test stands, and external power sourcesSkill in reading and understanding data and settings for cockpit instruments and gaugesMust be a US CitizenMust be able to pass a background check, which could include a criminal history and credit check for access to Government facilities.Must have or be able to obtain a Secret Clearance within nine (9) months of employee's start date.This position falls under Executive Order 14042, and may require fully vaccinated status.We maintain a drug-free workplace and perform post offer, pre-employment substance abuse testing.Physical RequirementsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
