GENERAL DESCRIPTIONAircraft Mechanics III must have a combination of experience to repair engines, sheet metal, structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, required to meet the assigned missions.*This posting is for current Tyonek Employees. DUTIES Leads a team in the performance of aircraft maintenance, inspections, and scheduled/ unscheduled maintenanceDemonstrate the technical experience to supervise subordinate mechanics and provide technical guidance on maintenance operations on the airframe being supportedCapable of performing, supervising, and inspecting the duties of Mechanic Is, IIs and IIIsMaintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures, structural components, and engines of complex to extreme difficulty, Maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems and mechanical componentsApplies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions Applies technical expertise in restoring equipment condition and operationApplies professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufactures' manualsInspect/clear aircraft discrepancy symbols to include Red X discrepancies and inspect/sign all equipment condition tags for all tasks that the team is assignedMake entries in aircraft logs and records Responsible for providing guidance and technical expertise to lower-level technicians throughout all aircraft modifications and/or maintenance effortsWill require the use of HLVP spray gun and various other corrosion control toolingOther duties as assignedEDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or equivalent is requiredMust have a minimum of three (3) years (hands on) experience on the C-130H/J variant aircraftMust have C-130 "hands-on" experience within the last 3 years and capable of performing all tasks IAW written instructionsMay be required to be licensed by Federal Aviation AdministrationRequires a thoroughly comprehensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting/repair procedures and replacement of components, a thorough knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modification and repair and the ability to determine functionality of non-complex electrical systemsMust possess the experience and ability to provide technical support to structural/mechanical engineers and customers alike, must possess excellent organizational skills in prioritizing workload to meet aircraft delivery scheduleA detailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers, etc. is requiredMust currently posses or have the ability to obtain a US passportMust be a U.S. Citizen We maintain a drug-free workplace and perform post offer, pre-employment and random substance abuse testing.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. May operate in austere CONUS and OCONUS locations.Ability to work in confined spaces.
