Position Summary: The Counselor is responsible for providing clinical support, counseling services, and case management to individuals undergoing medical detoxification for substance use disorders. This role supports clients through early recovery, ensures safety and compliance with treatment protocols, and collaborates with medical and clinical staff to promote stabilization and engagement in ongoing care.
Essential Functions
· Provide individual and group counseling services to clients in a detoxification setting.
· Conduct intake assessments, screenings, and psychosocial evaluations
· Monitor client behavior, emotional status, and withdrawal-related concerns
· Collaborate closely with nursing staff, physicians, and clinical team members.
· Develop and document individualized treatment plans and progress notes in accordance with regulatory standards.
· Educate clients on substance use disorders, coping skills, relapse prevention, and recovery resources.
· Assist with discharge planning and referrals to higher or lower levels of care.
· Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation.
· Ensure compliance with state regulations, licensing standards, and facility policies.
· Respond to crisis situations and provide de-escalation support as needed.
· Maintain client confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and applicable laws.
· Comply with agency policies, ethical standards, and state certification requirements.
Qualifications
· Active Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC) credential or Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (required)
