About the Job
Join us in making a meaningful impact in Canton, Ohio (Belden Village)! Be the first friendly face donors see. As a Donor Door Attendant, you will assist our generous community members when they donate goods at our stores. This includes unloading donations from vehicles, offering tax receipts, maintaining accurate daily donation counts, and beginning to presort items into categories.
Responsibilities
- Ensures 100% donor and customer satisfaction.
- Greets donors in a prompt, friendly, and courteous manner; aids in unloading donations from vehicles, offers tax receipts, and maintains accurate daily counts of donations.
- Keeps the donor door area neat and clean. Adheres to all safety practices, procedures, and policies. Reports any malfunctions of equipment or buildings to store team leadership.
- Secures donor door at end of each day. This includes bringing in bell hose (if applicable), closing and locking the donor door, and any other store-specific closing needs.
- Notifies store team leadership of any sizable items donated that cannot be stored or moved safely.
- Handles all donations carefully and pre-sorts donated merchandise quickly into categories as directed - apparel, shoes, purses, wares, electrical and mechanical, books, and miscellaneous that are in resaleable condition.
- Tags totes, bins, and duros as directed, and places them in assigned areas. Assists with material movement labels.
- Levels off totes to ensure safety and adheres to the two-finger rule when filling and stacking.
- Embodies DGR (Donated Goods Retail) MODE Guiding Principles.
- Supports production goals through processing activities, whether directly or indirectly.
- Hands every donor a receipt and ends every donor interaction with "You changed a life today, Thank you!"
- Follows all agency safety policies and guidelines. Actively participates with supervisor and team members to address identified safety concerns.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous work with the public preferred
- Courtesy and tact when dealing with people
- High school diploma or GED preferred
