Our smart solutions deliver value from pre-planning to long after the project is complete.OverviewThe Lead Safety Representative position will work to ensure all employees uphold the core value of safety by implementing and maintaining J.F. Electric safety programs. A successful Lead Safety Representative will develop positive professional relationships while working closely with field personnel, all levels of management, and outside agencies during all phases of operation. The Lead Safety Representative will oversee a group of Safety Representatives. Duties/Responsibilities: Works to align company safety philosophy with actual work practicesUpholds the core safety values of the organizationTrains field crews and employees on safety expectationsConducts orientation activities such as completing and checking paperwork on new hires, validating required experience and licensure, and collecting I-9 documentationOrientation can be in a local office or on multiple job sitesOften requires travelInvestigates incidents, injuries, damage to property, or other safety-related concernsCompletes incident reports, OSHA required documentation and other reports related to safetyCritically assesses and evaluates hazards as well as taking corrective actions at the momentDocuments findingsCommunicates with HR, leadership, and field personnel about what happened and recommendations for how to prevent similar occurrencesVerifies corrective measures have been completed (including recommendations of the safety committee, leaders, and those that arise from the suggestion programs)Proactively suggests safety improvements, process improvements, and personal protective equipment (PPE) to keep people safe in all facets of our workDevelops and maintains programs to encourage safety suggestions from others, improvements to working conditions that may impact safety, and processes that respect safety needsEnforces safety standards, conducts safety audits, participates in client safety meetings or conference calls; conveys information from specific clients about their specific safety requirements on a specific job site or client's workCoordinates with others to enforce work procedures, rules, and regulations related to safetyCommunicates safety and health information at employee meetingsPosts safety communications in various locations as neededEstablishes and maintains relationships with local safety agencies and insurance carriers to foster good communication between the company and external influences on safetyObserves workers and evaluates job activities to determine the use of prescribed safety equipment such as glasses, helmets, goggles, respirators, clothing, harnesses, and other PPEInspects new processes, materials, tools, substances, and equipment to identify hazards before an issue occursBacks up other Safety Reps and fills in for other employees who are out on vacation or leave, or in other situations where an onsite safety presence is prudentDevelops positive, professional relationships with field personnel, all levels of leadership, outside agencies, and the general publicOther duties as assigned or prudentCross-train in all facets of the Division, preparing to fill in for anyone absent and grow in responsibility and scope over time. The person in this role will uphold the culture of J.F. Electric, including relationship building with customers as well as general behavior on J.F. Electric or client premises or at J.F. Electric sponsored events.Requirements/Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience requiredSafety experience helpful, but can be trainedOSHA certifications required prefer OSHA 500Training and presentation skills requiredCustomer service experience and attitudeStrong influencing skills requiredNegotiation skillsCritical thinking skillsExperience working with electricians or construction trades would be beneficialAbility to adhere to a schedule and reliably show up for all scheduled shifts on timeStrong skills with organization, communication, and attention to detailComputer proficiency is essentialMust be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
