We're looking for a Driller Assistant to join our Field Exploration team in Knoxville, Tennessee, who's ready to roll up their sleeves and support drilling operations in all kinds of weather and terrain. Join us at S&ME!Visit the Life tab on our LinkedIn profile to learn more about life at S&ME.What You Will Do: As a Driller Assistant, you will be the boots-on-the-ground support for drilling operations, supporting experienced drillers in challenging outdoor environments. This role demands physical strength, endurance, and a willingness to get dirty. You'll be part of a team that values grit, reliability, and a strong work ethic, contributing to projects that require precision, toughness, and adaptability. Assisting drillers in the field with setup, operation, and breakdown of drilling equipmentHandling and transporting field samples and equipment (routinely lifting 40-50 lbs)Navigating rough, uneven terrain in remote locationsWorking in hot summers, cold winters, and everything in betweenTraveling overnight for out-of-town assignments as neededOccasionally working outside of standard business hoursThis role requires extensive, continuous travel as a core part of the job. Assignments are based at project sites rather than a fixed location, with frequent time away from home; hotel accommodations and per diem are provided. Work is performed outdoors in physically demanding, dirty, and unpredictable environments, and project schedules and locations regularly change based on operational needs.Qualifications:Education: High School diploma/GEDCertifications/Licensures:Commercial Driver's License, a plusKey Competencies: Strong work ethic and willingness to work in physically demanding conditionsEffective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English languageThe knowledge and ability to perform routine vehicle and equipment maintenanceWorking Conditions and Physical Demands:This role involves hands-on work in outdoor environments, and with Company-provided Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), you'll need to be comfortable with:Working outdoors in varying weather conditionsWalking over rough, uneven terrain and standing (potentially up to 12 hours a day)Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs (field/laboratory samples and equipment)Working outside of normal business hours and traveling (typically out-of-town and/or overnight) as project needs ariseWe Are S&ME:At S&ME, we're committed to your growth, professionally and personally.
