The successful candidate is a registered professional nurse with a terminal degree who is responsible for classroom teaching (face to face, online, and blended), as well as the potential for clinical instruction, and other activities relating to nursing education. This is a twelve-month on-site contract with the University. The successful candidate will be expected to be on campus on days when assigned classes are scheduled, as well as Monday's and Thursdays for department and School of Nursing meetings. This position reports to the Undergraduate Nursing Program Chairperson.Job Duties & ResponsibilitiesEach faculty member is expected to comply with all rules and regulations for university faculty as outlined in the Concordia University Wisconsin & Ann Arbor (CUWAA) and School of Nursing (SON) Faculty Handbooks. In addition, they have the following responsibilities:AcademicImplement teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needsProvide guidance and mentorship to studentsProvide timely written and verbal feedback related to student performanceKeep current records of student grades and academic workParticipate in ongoing course and program review and revisionParticipate in program governanceClinicalTeach and/or coordinate clinical courses based on professional expertiseFollow SON policies and procedures related to clinical teaching and student performanceCommunicate regularly with course coordinators and program director/chair regarding concernsWork collaboratively with staff at assigned clinical facilities/agenciesRequired to meet the health and vaccination requirements for all health care clinical affiliates who partner with the SON programs. *These requirements may vary from university requirements.Professional ActivityMaintain unencumbered RN licensure and current knowledge of clinical practice within the areas of teaching responsibilityAssist with recruitment of studentsParticipate in professional, community, university, and school serviceEngage in scholarship commensurate with academic rankOther duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesDemonstrates effective leadership, organizational skills, and is a self-starterExhibits a willingness and ability to work with diverse individuals and organizationsExperience with using technology, specifically use of high-fidelity simulation preferredFamiliar with the university campus lifeAble to deal with interruptions and work in a fast-paced environmentAble to present a Christian and professional mannerCandidates should possess strong written and oral communications skillsAble to travel occasionally on behalf of the UniversityAll candidates should possess an ability to meet deadlines and work night/weekendsSupportive of the mission and values of Concordia University Wisconsin/Ann Arbor and the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS)Education & ExperienceCurrent Wisconsin licensure as a registered nurse or eligible for such licensureMaster of Science Degree in Nursing and an earned doctorate in nursing or related fieldCurrent knowledge of theoretical principles and clinical practice within at least one of the following specialty areas is required: pharmacology, community health, psychological health, med-surg, obstetrics/women's health, leadership and managementPrevious teaching experience in a baccalaureate or higher degree program is preferredPrevious use of innovative and active teaching strategies, including simulation and VRPhysical Demands/Equipment (Click to View)Compensation & BenefitsThis is a full-time, exempt (salary) faculty position.
