Retail Assistant Manager

Position OverviewSupporting the Retail Manager in leading a motivated team to deliver an exceptional shopping experience for guests. The Assistant Manager helps ensure the environment is welcoming and knowledgeable for staff and guests. This role helps run smooth day-to-day operation and steps in to lead when the Retail Manager is unavailable. Key ResponsibilitiesSupervise and support retail staff, coaching them on operations, sales technique, and customer-service standards Oversee point-of-sale operations, including cash and credit card transactions, and resolve discrepancies as they arise Manage inventory levels, including restocking, ordering, and coordinating incoming merchandise deliveries Serve as the first point of concern and ensure prompt and knowledgeable resolutionsAssist with scheduling and delegating tasks to staff to maintain adequate daily operationsReduce inventory shrinkage with diligent stock management and loss prevention strategiesModel the Scout Oath and Law in daily interactionsMaintain a clean, organized, inspected, neat, and safe work areaPerform additional duties assigned by SBR leadershipAbide by policies and procedures outlined in the SBR staff handbookQualificationsMinimum age: 18+Proficient computer literacyRequired: 2+ years in retail workPreferred: Experience with Point-of-Sale systemsWilling to become a registered Scouting America member (includes background screening)Comfortable using Microsoft Teams for daily work-related communicationPhysical & Practical RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, and hike up to 8 hours daily and ability to lift/move up to 40 poundsComplete the Annual Health and Medical Record, including height/weight guidelinesHousing: 10'x12' platform tent in Staff Camp | Uniform: Summit Staff Uniform | Work Hours: 45-55Desired TraitsHigh emotional intelligence (such as self/social awareness and team dynamics)Positive and cheerful attitude with a strong customer-service focusAdaptability in a fast-paced environment with ability to learn/develop hard and soft skillsAbility to connect with individuals from diverse age groups, maturity, and backgrounds
