S-E-A is a forensic engineering firm with over 50 years of experience serving as a neutral, third part subject expert, analyzing technical failures. Our engineers reverse engineer and look for the "why" when things fail. Prior forensic industry experience strongly preferred.Compensation highly depends on experience and education. Applicants with more substantial (and/or forensic) experience should expect higher compensation.Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities: Conduct field investigations and analyze failures involving all types of structures and construction problems including residential, commercial and industrial propertiesDetermine of the cause, origin, and extent of structural failures, water intrusions, construction defects and building system failures including envelope, roof, wall and glazingAssignments may include foundation settlement investigations, structural assessments, site evaluations, sub-surface investigations, vibration analysis, construction site accidents and building egress accident evaluationsAnalyze failures in buildings and other infrastructure systems by conducting site visits and applying engineering principles and practices in accordance with codes and industry standardsConduct unbiased investigations for various types of clientsResponsible for retention and development of client relationsPrepare oral and written reports in layman's terms that document causes of failure, extent of loss, and recommended remediationDeliver professional presentations, develop client relationships and promote self to client groupsAbility to support conclusions by appropriate expert testimony in legal proceedingsAbility to accept and integrate constructive feedback into job performanceMaintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional societiesPosition Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering required, Master's degree a plusA minimum of seven years of post-academic civil/structural experienceP.E.
