Concordia is a Lutheran higher education community committed to helping students develop in mind, body and spirit for service to Christ in the Church and in the world.Position SummaryConcordia University is seeking applicants for the part-time, Campus Safety Officer position located on the Mequon, WI campus. Candidates must be available to work at least one 8-hour shift per week on 1st shift (6:00am-2:00pm; Sunday-Saturday) or 2nd shift (2:00pm-10:00pm; Friday-Sunday) This position reports directly to the Director of Campus Safety. Interested persons should enjoy working with young adults and understand the uniqueness of college law enforcement. Weekends and/or holidays may be required based on the needs of the University. This is a less than 20 hours per week position.Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesRespond to all emergency and non-emergency calls for assistance from the CUW community occurring on campus.Determine the nature and location of the emergency, determine priorities, and direct other Campus Safety Officers or emergency personnel as necessary in accordance with established proceduresEnforce the Student Conduct Code and other University regulations, policies and proceduresPrepare shift, incident and conduct reports as appropriateAssist in investigating complaints and violations of university policies and proceduresAssist in record keeping in compliance with Campus Crime and Safety ActInteracts with various offices within the university as well as outside constituentsPerform foot and vehicle patrol of the campus and buildingsMust wear provided uniform and equipment while on dutyMay perform other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge, skill, training and ability to deal with emergenciesAbility to take charge and follow proceduresMust possess excellent people and communication skillsWillingness and a strong desire to be a leader and role modelAbility to react calmly and responsibly in emergency situationsKnowledge of Microsoft Office and possess general computer and typing skillsAbility to work nights, weekends and holidays as requiredMust have a good driving record and maintain a valid Regular Class D Wisconsin driver licenseSupportive of the mission and values of Concordia University Wisconsin/Ann Arbor and the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS)Physical Demands/Equipment (Click to View)Education and/or TrainingCandidate must have high school diploma or GED. Preferred candidate will have successfully completed a basic law enforcement training program or similar military training within the last 5 years and not be prohibited by law from possessing a firearm. Previous Law Enforcement, campus safety or security experience is a plus.Compensation and BenefitsThis is a part-time, staff, non-exempt position. The starting wage may be determined upon education and/or experience.
