Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) | Northridge, CA | 13 Weeks Contract
Behind every successful surgery is a team making sure every instrument is exactly where it needs to be, perfectly prepared and properly sterilized. We’re looking for an experienced Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) to join a dedicated perioperative team in Northridge, CA.
If you have a sharp eye for detail, take patient safety seriously, and can tell the difference between a Mayo stand and a mayonnaise stand, you’re already off to a great start.
Job Details- Position: Sterile Processing Technician (SPT)
- Location: Northridge, CA
- Contract Length: 13 Weeks
- Shift: Evening Shift
- Schedule: 5×8
- Experience Required: 2 Years
- Weekly Pay: $1,500 to $1,700
- Decontaminate, clean, inspect, assemble, sterilize, and distribute surgical instruments and medical equipment
- Prepare instrument trays and case carts according to surgical specialty and procedure requirements
- Operate sterilization and decontamination equipment, including steam sterilizers, ultrasonic cleaners, and washer-disinfectors
- Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, damage, and proper operation
- Perform biological, chemical, and mechanical monitoring of sterilization processes
- Maintain accurate sterilization records and instrument tracking documentation
- Ensure sterile supplies and instruments are available to operating rooms and procedural areas in a timely manner
- Collaborate closely with OR staff, nurses, surgical technologists, and other clinical departments
- Identify damaged or malfunctioning instruments and coordinate appropriate repair or replacement
- Maintain inventory of sterile supplies and assist with restocking as needed
- Follow AAMI, OSHA, infection prevention, and facility-specific standards and procedures
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe sterile processing environment
- Participate in quality assurance and process improvement activities
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Minimum 2 years of recent Sterile Processing experience
- Current CRCST certification required by facility
- CSPDT certification may be accepted depending on facility requirements
- Current BLS Certification preferred or required by facility
- Strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation, decontamination, sterilization, and infection prevention
- Familiarity with instrument tracking systems and sterile processing documentation
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced hospital environment
- Ability to stand for extended periods and handle instrument trays safely
- Commitment to patient safety and quality standards
