On-site shifts supporting a Level 2 trauma center-affiliated urgent care environment

Rhino Medical is seeking Physician Assistants (PA) with emergency department experience for an ongoing locum tenens position in Independence, MO. This role involves providing basic emergency care within a free-standing emergency department, focusing on procedures such as laceration repairs, splinting, and incision and drainage, with no call coverage or rounding in inpatient or ICU settings. The position offers a flexible schedule with shifts from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM and 3:00 PM to 1:00 AM, covering all dates and times as needed, with an immediate start preferred and a planned commencement in September.

Practice Environment
This emergency department functions as a free-standing ED affiliated with a Level 2 trauma center, primarily managing Level 4 and 5 cases. The setting provides consistent physician support, minimal consults, and outpatient referrals, supporting a wide range of basic ER procedures within a well-equipped facility designed for efficient acuity management.

Schedule & Coverage

• Shifts from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM and 3:00 PM to 1:00 AM
• Coverage available for all dates and times as needed
• No call coverage or inpatient rounding required

Clinical Responsibilities

• Performing basic ER procedures: laceration repairs, splinting, incision and drainage
• Supporting outpatient follow-up referrals
• Supporting patient stabilization and treatment in the emergency setting
• Documentation within EMR, with shadowing and training provided

Candidate Requirements

• Active Missouri Physician Assistant license
• DEA registration
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine
• Experience with emergency procedures such as laceration repair, splinting, and incision and drainage
• Preferably experienced providers, not recent graduates
• Willingness to provide case logs; privileges reviewed case-by-case
