The Superintendent manages heavy mechanical construction projects by leading the planning and development of all project deliverables. The Superintendent is responsible for managing the workforce, work plans, and logistic procedures. The Superintendent will work with the Project Manager to deliver the project on time and in accordance with the contract plans/specifications while keeping under budget.
II. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS
- 4-year degree in Engineering or related field (or equivalent years' experience).
- Certifications preferred: OSHA 30, DOB SST, DOB Superintendent license.
III. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Direct day today on-site supervision of field labor force.
- Inspection of Contractor or Subcontractor operations to ensure compliance with contract.
- Review and approve Trade Contractor Payment Applications with Project Manager.
- Maintain good relationships with internal and external clients, including representatives of Owner and Architect/Engineer.
- Develop and maintain site logistics/work plans, safety procedures (JHAs), quality work plans, etc. in coordination with Project Manager.
- Conduct quality inspections.
- Coordinate site testing and inspection efforts.
- Monitor costs, including labor time and material.
- Demonstrate commitment to an Injury-Free Environment through personal actions and mentoring others.
- Manage schedules, including preparation of detailed short-term schedules and ensuring all activities take place on or ahead of scheduled dates.
- Create and update two/four/six-week look-ahead schedules.
- Prepare and submit Superintendent's Daily Reports.
- Attend and participate in project meetings, including subcontractor meetings.
- Supervise the work of project engineers and field engineers and ensure coordination.
- The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit and climb as necessary.
- The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
IV. QUALIFICATIONS OF THE POSITION
- 10+ years of Heavy Mechanical Construction experience.
- Familiarity with terms and conditions of Project Contracts, Subcontracts, and Purchase Orders.
- Ability to read and comprehend construction drawings and specifications for all disciplines of work.
- Computer knowledge and efficiency, including Microsoft Office products.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Exhibits strong leadership qualities.
- Willingness to coordinate and work in a team environment.
- Strong decision making/problem solving skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Must be safety oriented.
