Responsibilities
- Jump into producing construction documents independently and ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with project goals.
- Lead architectural design from programming and schematic design through design development, construction documentation, and construction administration for higher-level responsibilities.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously across a range of scales and complexities, maintaining schedules and deliverables.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, owners, and stakeholders, providing clear communication and responsive service.
- Coordinate closely with consultants, including MEP, structural, civil, landscape, and specialty vendors, to integrate all disciplines into cohesive project documents.
- Develop detailed construction documents and technical specifications using Revit and, where applicable, AutoCAD.
- Oversee code analysis, life safety plans, and permitting processes to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
- Review shop drawings, RFIs, submittals, and change orders, and provide timely, well-reasoned responses.
- Conduct site visits and field observations during construction to monitor progress, identify issues, and support successful project delivery.
- Assist with and, at higher levels, lead construction administration tasks, including documentation, coordination, and issue resolution.
- Ensure quality control and adherence to firm standards across all project deliverables.
- Mentor and guide junior architects and designers, sharing technical expertise and best practices.
- Participate in project budgeting, scheduling, and staffing discussions to support efficient project execution.
- Support business development efforts, including proposals and client presentations, as needed.
- Assist with client communication and coordination, particularly for mid-level responsibilities.
Essential Skills
- 5–20 years of professional experience in architecture, with strong technical capabilities at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to independently produce construction documents, especially for mid-level candidates.
- Proven experience supporting projects from concept through construction administration.
- Proficiency in Revit, with hands-on experience creating detailed construction drawings and documents.
- Strong background in architectural design, design development, and construction drawings.
- Experience with construction administration, including reviewing RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and change orders.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with consultants across multiple disciplines (MEP, structural, civil, landscape, and specialty vendors).
- Solid understanding of building codes, life safety requirements, and permitting processes.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with clients, owners, stakeholders, and internal teams.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and handle varying scales and complexities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Lumion is a plus.
- background working on commercial, multi-family, single-family, veterinary clinics, and car dealership projects is highly beneficial.
- Interest in long-term growth within the firm and readiness to take on increasing responsibility over time.
- Ability to work effectively within a small design team structure and collaborate with a larger group of architects.
- Commitment to quality, attention to detail, and adherence to established standards and processes.
Work Environment
The role is based in a full-service architecture and interior design practice with experience across a wide variety of project types and sizes, including commercial, multi-family, single-family residential, veterinary clinics, and car dealerships. The team consists of around 20 people, typically organized into design teams of 2–3, supported by a broader group of architects. This is a 100% in-office position, offering a collaborative, family-feel culture and a stable workload driven by a diverse project portfolio.
