Corn Sorter - Multiple Shifts

Located in Switz City, IN

Salary: $17.00-$20.00/hour

We are seeking a dependable Corn Sorter to help maintain the quality of seed throughout the production process. In this role, you will inspect and sort corn as it moves along a conveyor, removing damaged or unwanted material and ensuring only quality seed continues through the drying process. This is a hands-on position that requires attention to detail, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to remain standing or seated in an elevated position for extended periods.

Job Summary

• Safely sort corn to maintain seed quality and reduce foreign material entering the drying process
• Remove waste, damaged corn, crop debris, and other unwanted materials from the production line
• Identify and remove off-type ears, wet or immature ears, moldy ears, insect-damaged ears, husk ribbon, rogue ears, and other foreign material
• Re-husk corn as needed and distribute materials to the appropriate locations for further processing
• Assist with the kernel cleaning process when materials change
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area by sweeping and removing debris as workload allows
• Follow all safety policies and procedures, including proper use of required PPE
• Follow lockout/tagout, E-Stop, and other equipment safety procedures
• Immediately report accidents, near misses, safety violations, hazards, or other concerns to the appropriate supervisor

Experience Required

• Previous agricultural, manufacturing, production, or warehouse experience preferred
• Experience working around conveyor systems or production equipment is a plus
• Previous experience with quality inspection or sorting is helpful but not required
• Ability to follow detailed safety and production procedures

• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify damaged or undesirable seed
• Ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced production environment
• Ability to remain focused while performing repetitive sorting tasks
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Willingness to follow all safety requirements and wear required PPE
• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working in front of a moving conveyor
• Ability to work in an environment with potential exposure to plant allergens, including corn dust
• Reliable attendance and punctuality
• Ability to communicate safety concerns and production issues promptly

Pay: $17.00-$20.00/hour

Position Type: Contract

Schedule:

• Sunday through Tuesday 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM and Wednesday 6:30 AM - 1:00 PM
• Wednesday 12:30 PM - 7:00 PM and Thursday through Saturday 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM
