Assistant Controller

This Assistant Controller role offers the opportunity to partner closely with senior leadership, oversee key accounting functions, and play an integral role in supporting the financial health of a dynamic production environment.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting professional with strong manufacturing experience, a passion for process improvement, and the ability to lead and develop a high-performing team.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process.
• Oversee general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and financial reporting activities.
• Prepare and review financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis efforts.
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
• Partner with operations and plant leadership to improve financial visibility and decision-making.
• Monitor inventory accounting, cost accounting, and manufacturing-related transactions.
• Analyze production costs, labor variances, and inventory movements.
• Assist with external audits, tax support, and compliance requirements.
• Lead process improvement initiatives and help drive accounting automation efforts.
• Mentor and develop accounting staff while supporting departmental growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• CPA or CPA-track preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Manufacturing industry experience required.
• Strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory accounting, and standard costing principles.
• Experience with month-end close, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with finance, operations, and executive leadership teams.

Preferred Experience

• Multi-site manufacturing experience.
• Exposure to inventory management, production reporting, and operational finance.
• Experience supporting ERP implementations, upgrades, or system enhancements.
• Prior supervisory or team leadership experience.
