Job Type: Full-Time Consultant (4-Month Assignment with Potential Extension to direct for right person)
Location: Wichita, KS
Shift: Third Shift (Start Time: 11:00 PM)
Schedule: Monday-Friday
Pay Rate: $46.43 per hour
Overtime: Available
As an Aircraft Painter, you'll play a critical role in the appearance, protection, and performance of aerospace components and aircraft structures. Working with both metallic and composite surfaces, you'll apply primers, topcoats, clear coats, and specialty finishes that meet rigorous engineering and quality standards.
Your craftsmanship will directly impact the quality, durability, and final presentation of products that support the future of aviation.
What You'll DoIn this role, you will:
Apply aerospace-grade primers, topcoats, gloss finishes, clear coats, and specialty coatings
Mix paints and coatings to precise specifications and color requirements
Prepare surfaces through:
Cleaning
Sanding
Scuffing
Masking
Surface treatment processes
Spray paint on simple and complex aircraft components and assemblies
Apply stenciling, markings, and final finish details per engineering requirements
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and work instructions
Inspect painted surfaces for quality, consistency, and compliance
Measure paint thickness and coating requirements using precision inspection equipment
Conduct touch-up, repair, rework, and finish corrections as needed
Perform equipment maintenance on spray guns, sprayers, and paint systems
Properly handle and dispose of paint materials and hazardous waste
Complete air quality logs and required production documentation
Move and position products throughout the manufacturing process
Assist in training and supporting teammates to maintain production flow
Follow all safety procedures, environmental regulations, and company standards
3-5 years of aircraft painting experience
Strong experience with:
Spray application techniques
Primer application
Final topcoat finishes
Clear coat applications
Ability to paint both composite and metallic aircraft surfaces
Experience with masking, sanding, scuffing, cleaning, and paint preparation processes
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, prints, and specifications
Strong attention to detail and color-matching ability
Experience mixing paints and coatings to exact specifications
Ability to work safely with paints, solvents, and hazardous materials
Must be able to successfully complete:
Respirator certification requirements
Basic painter skills assessment
Ability to perform detailed visual inspections and quality checks
Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards
Aerospace manufacturing or aviation industry experience
Experience applying:
Stenciling finishes
High-gloss finishes
Specialty aerospace coatings
Familiarity with OSHA, customer, and aerospace quality standards
Experience using precision measuring equipment for coating inspections
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Ability to support training and mentoring efforts within the team
Candidates must be able to complete and maintain required safety certifications and medical surveillance requirements, including:
Respiratory Protection Certifications
Air-Supplied Painter Hood Certification
Full-Face and Half-Face Respirator Certifications
Hexavalent Chromium Medical Surveillance
Hexavalent Chrome Regulated Area Training

Pay Details: $45.00 to $46.63 per hour
