Grain Elevator Scale Operator

Express Employment Professionals is seeking a dependable Grain Elevator Scale Operator for a local agricultural facility in Dwight, IL. This position is responsible for weighing trucks, grading grain, assisting drivers, and maintaining accurate records of grain deliveries and shipments. Previous experience is preferred but not required, making this a great opportunity for individuals interested in the agriculture industry.

Pay Rate

$19.00 per hour

Schedule

Regular Season

• Monday through Friday
• 6:30 AM - 4:00 PM

Harvest Season

• Monday through Sunday
• 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
• One scheduled day off per week

Job Responsibilities

• Operate truck scales for incoming and outgoing grain loads
• Weigh, record, and process grain deliveries and shipments accurately
• Grade and sample corn, soybeans, and other grain commodities
• Assist truck drivers with scale procedures and facility directions
• Enter scale tickets and delivery information into computer systems
• Verify load information and maintain accurate documentation
• Communicate effectively with farmers, truck drivers, and facility personnel
• Monitor grain quality and report discrepancies when identified
• Follow all safety policies and procedures
• Maintain a clean and organized work area
• Assist with additional elevator and harvest operations as needed

Qualifications

• Previous grain elevator, agriculture, scale operation, or grain grading experience preferred but not required
• Basic computer and data entry skills
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
• Willingness to work extended hours during harvest season

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods
• Ability to work in varying weather conditions
• Frequent bending, reaching, and climbing stairs
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed
• Comfortable working around grain dust, machinery, and agricultural equipment
