Express Employment Professionals (Athens, TX) is hiring a GMAW Structural Steel Fabricator for a trusted local employer serving Elkhart, TX and surrounding areas. If transforming drawings into strong, clean welds is your craft, we want to talk.

A day in the life

You’ll start by reviewing blueprints and welding symbols, setting up your welder with .035 hardwire, and dialing in parameters. Through the day you’ll run MIG (GMAW) beads across flat, horizontal, and vertical positions on structural steel, verify quality with visual checks to AWS D1.1, and finish parts using grinders and clamps. You’ll coordinate with the team to hit production goals while keeping your station orderly and safe.

Core responsibilities

• Perform MIG welding on structural steel using .035 hardwire
• Interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and fabrication drawings
• Set up and operate welding equipment safely and efficiently
• Complete multi-position welds: flat, horizontal, vertical
• Conduct visual inspections to confirm quality and code compliance
• Follow AWS D1.1 structural welding code standards
• Use grinders, clamps, and related tools for prep and finishing
• Collaborate with teammates to meet production deadlines
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area

What you bring

• Must pass a FlexiblePass AWS D1.1 Weld Test with .035 Hardwire (pre-employment)
• 2+ years of MIG experience in structural steel or industrial settings (preferred)
• Knowledge of welding procedures, shop safety, and equipment
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents
• Comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods
