ROLE
The Electrical Estimator will be responsible for the accurate, timely preparation of full-cost estimates for projects, including material and labor. The Electrical Estimator will prepare and maintain a list of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors. This individual analyzes blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation in the preparation of accurate, profitable electrical estimates for projects, products, or services.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and/or coordinate the preparation of full cost estimates on conceptual, design-build or plans and specs projects of any size and complexity.
- Prepare materials, labor and equipment cost estimates according to proposals, plans and specifications independently without supervision.
- Review data to determine material and labor requirements & prepare itemized lists.
- Perform high volume of project change order estimates.
- Computes cost factors and prepares estimates used for management purposes such as: planning, organizing, scheduling preparing bids; proposals, selecting vendors, subcontractors, and cost effectiveness.
- Conducts special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or effect cost reductions.
- Consults with clients, vendors, and other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
- Prepare and maintain a list of suppliers, contractors, and sub-trades. Duties include negotiating with these groups to obtain competitive and profitable pricing.
- Interfaces with other individuals in the organization to obtain support and commitment to the cost estimates.
- Organizes and manages a centralized cost estimating database and a formal process to support cost estimating to ensure historical data is utilized.
- Analyzes completed projects to compare estimated costs to actual costs and determine the reason for any discrepancies.
- Provides improvement recommendations to cost estimating procedures to reduce future discrepancies between estimated and actual costs.
- Identifies cost trends to assist management in cost reduction and process improvement efforts.
- Other duties as assigned to meet Company objectives.

- Experience with Accubid preferred.
- Experience with Accubid LiveCount or similar on screen take off tools.
- High level organization skills (High volume environment).
- Experience in gathering data, compiling the proper information.
- Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy a must.

- Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.

- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Requires a high degree of professional integrity, ethics, and confidentiality.
EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
- (5) Years estimating experience in the electrical contracting industry with practical knowledge of field requirements and installations preferred.
- (01) license with a minimum of five years’ experience in the field preferred.
- Completion of estimating program in post-secondary education environment.
- Prior experience with Accubid.
