Description

American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist with 2+ years of experience for a combination IP/OP acute care hospital assignment.

Details

  • Acute care hospital setting with a combined Inpatient/Outpatient PT unit
  • Caseload split approximately 80% inpatient and 20% outpatient depending on census and preference
  • Patient population includes general orthopedic injuries, sports-related injuries, fractures, neck pain, 10-15% neuro cases, and occasional amputations
  • No acutely ill patients treated at this campus, with specialized cases referred to a sister facility
  • Approximately 7 treatment hours per day
  • Uses MEDITECH as the charting system
  • Schedule is Monday-Friday, either 7a-4p or 8a-5p, with no weekends and no call
  • Required to float between inpatient and outpatient areas
  • Works alongside 2 full-time staff PTs, 2-3 PTAs, and 1 tech
  • May rotate in for holiday coverage as needed

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of physical therapy experience required
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Active Texas state PT license and NLC compact license required (license required if applicable)
  • Experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings required
  • Wound care experience preferred but not required
  • Copy of driver's license required at time of consideration, with legal name matching government-issued ID

Additional Information

  • Main responsibilities include evaluating and treating a mix of inpatient and outpatient PT cases
  • May be asked to precept as needed by the unit
  • Supportive nursing and therapy staff, with full-time PTs available to assist with cases requiring specialized experience
  • Brief department-specific orientation provided
  • Maroon scrubs required, not provided by facility
  • Call-outs are strongly discouraged and could result in termination
  • Candidates who have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit-associated facility (including CHI and/or Dignity) within the past year are not eligible; PRN employment through outside firms is acceptable
