Job Description
Loan Administrator
Location: Chicago, IL
Duration: 3-Month Contract
Pay Rate: $18–$19/hour on W2
Schedule: Hybrid – 3 days onsite per week
Interview Process: 1–2 virtual interview rounds
Potential: Extension or conversion may be available based on performance and business needs
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Loan Administrator to join a financial operations team supporting loan and investment portfolios. This role is focused on daily reconciliation, financial data analysis, investigating discrepancies, and preparing reports.
The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, intermediate Excel knowledge, and an interest or background in banking, finance, loan administration, accounting, or investment operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily cash reconciliations and compare internal records against external/trustee records.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies involving cash balances, loan par balances, and portfolio collateral values.
- Work closely with the Bank Loan Closing team to research and resolve transaction-related discrepancies.
- Prepare and provide daily cash reports.
- Perform monthly cash and par balance tie-outs for investor reporting.
- Research differences between portfolio records and external reports and determine the appropriate resolution.
- Maintain accurate and timely financial and portfolio data.
- Use Excel to analyze large amounts of financial data and troubleshoot discrepancies.
- Communicate findings and outstanding issues with internal teams and relevant stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, including:
- VLOOKUP
- SUMIF
- Data comparison and analysis
- Troubleshooting discrepancies
- Strong attention to detail and analytical/problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work with large amounts of financial or transactional data.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
Preferred Background
Experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred:
- Bank loan operations or administration
- Loan administration
- Commercial or mortgage loan operations
- CLO/CDO operations
- Trustee operations
- Financial or investment operations
- Portfolio administration
- Reconciliation
- Cash operations
- Accounting or financial analysis
Work Arrangement
- Hybrid schedule with 3 days onsite per week in Chicago, IL.
- Public parking is available in the surrounding area; company-provided parking is not available.
