Job Description – Therapy Transporter

Position: Therapy Transporter
Location: Montrose, NY 10548
Employment: Full-time, onsite, W-2
Facility: 252-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility
Department: Rehabilitation / Therapy
Hours: 40 hours/week
Schedule: Within 7:00 AM–4:00 PM; rotating weekends/holidays
Target Start: September 2026 onboarding

Position Summary

Support the rehabilitation team by safely transporting residents to and from therapy and assisting with transfers, positioning, treatment-area readiness, equipment handling, and resident flow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely transport residents between nursing units, therapy areas, appointments, and designated facility locations.
  • Assist with transfers between beds, wheelchairs, stretchers, and therapy equipment.
  • Coordinate resident flow with therapists and nursing staff.
  • Report delays, refusals, changes in condition, and safety concerns promptly.
  • Prepare wheelchairs, stretchers, and treatment areas.
  • Assist with resident positioning as directed by licensed staff.
  • Clean and sanitize transport and therapy equipment.
  • Maintain resident dignity, confidentiality, comfort, and safety.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 months of experience in a skilled nursing or rehabilitation facility.
  • Ability to perform frequent standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, and resident-assistance tasks.
  • Knowledge of safe lifting and transfer techniques.
  • Reliable attendance, respectful communication, and teamwork.
  • Ability to follow clinical and safety instructions.
  • Current physical examination and TB/PPD documentation.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and complete accurate EHR documentation.
  • Ability to work effectively with nursing, medical, social services, residents, families, the VA, and outside equipment vendors.
