Forklift Operator – Metal Scrap Yard

Position Summary

Essential Job Duties

• Operate forklifts safely and efficiently throughout the scrap yard.
• Load and unload trucks, trailers, containers, and customer vehicles.
• Transport scrap metal and recyclable materials to designated processing and storage areas.
• Sort and stage ferrous and non-ferrous metals according to company standards.
• Conduct pre-shift equipment inspections and report maintenance concerns.
• Maintain accurate material handling procedures and follow yard traffic patterns.
• Assist with inventory organization and shipment preparation.
• Keep work areas clean and free of hazards.
• Follow all safety regulations, company policies, and required PPE standards.
• Work closely with supervisors and team members to ensure efficient yard operations.

Qualifications

• Previous forklift operating experience required.
• Experience in a scrapyard, recycling facility, warehouse, construction, or industrial setting preferred.
• Ability to work safely around heavy machinery and moving equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
• Reliable attendance and dependable work history.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and work on uneven surfaces.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and dust.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

• Starting Pay: $20.00 per hour
• Full-time position
