Penmac Staffing is recruiting on behalf of a confidential manufacturing client seeking a Process Engineer to support manufacturing operations at a specialty polymers production facility. This direct hire opportunity is ideal for an early-career engineer looking to build expertise in polymer processing, process optimization, and continuous improvement while working alongside experienced engineering and operations professionals.
Requirements for the Process Engineer
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related technical field
- 1-3 years of manufacturing, chemical processing, polymers, plastics, or related engineering experience
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Understanding of chemical process operations and manufacturing fundamentals
- Ability to analyze production data and identify improvement opportunities
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
Process Engineer Responsibilities
- Support daily manufacturing operations and process optimization efforts
- Monitor production performance and identify opportunities to improve quality, yield, and productivity
- Assist with troubleshooting process and equipment issues
- Participate in root cause investigations and corrective action activities
- Support product qualifications, process validation, and new product introductions
- Prepare process documentation, operating procedures, and production metrics
- Assist with capital projects, equipment installations, and startup activities
- Collaborate with quality, maintenance, operations, and engineering teams
- Contribute to safety initiatives, process improvements, and continuous improvement projects
Preferred Qualifications
- Internship, co-op, or industry experience in polymers, plastics, resins, or specialty chemicals
- Familiarity with SPC, Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma principles
- Experience with ERP systems, SAP, Minitab, JMP, Aspen Plus, or similar software tools
