Assembler - Contract to Hire

A precision instrument manufacturer in Andover, MA is seeking a skilled, detail-driven Assembler IV to perform a variety of electromechanical assembly operations on subassemblies used across six different instrument types. In this hands-on role, you'll assemble, disassemble, repair, connect, and solder wires and connectors following assembly instructions, engineering specifications, and sketches. 

Pay Rate of the Assembler IV:
$28.00 – $30.00 per hour.

Schedule of the Assembler IV:
Monday through Thursday, 6:00 AM to 3:30 PM, and Friday, 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM.

Responsibilities of the Assembler IV:

  • Perform general assembly on subassemblies using the appropriate assembly procedures.
  • Solder wires, PCBs, and subassemblies to precise specifications.
  • Test subassemblies in electronic test fixtures.
  • Learn and perform basic troubleshooting protocols and rework for non-conforming units.
  • Meet expected daily production requirements.
  • Stay flexible and handle priority changes as they occur.
  • Report any quality problems or defects to management so corrective action can be implemented and recurrence avoided.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the business.
Qualifications of the Assembler IV:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • 5+ years of experience assembling electromechanical devices and subassemblies.
  • IPC-A-610 and JSTD-001 certified.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability with hand tools, including soldering equipment, screwdrivers, wrenches, and heat guns.
  • Thorough understanding of workmanship standards and quality control procedures, including ESD compliance.
  • Experience operating in a lean manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work in a clean, contaminant-free environment while wearing gloves during assembly operations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
