Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Technician

 

Location: Hopewell, VA

Duration: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire

Pay Rate: $55-$57/hr Max

Overview

Seeking a Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Technician to support site-wide environmental health and safety initiatives, regulatory compliance, fire prevention, emergency response, and industrial hygiene programs. This role is ideal for a safety professional with experience in manufacturing, chemical, industrial, or plant environments.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support OSHA, NFPA, DOT, and environmental compliance programs across the site.
  • Coordinate fire protection inspections, audits, training, and emergency response readiness.
  • Conduct safety audits, inspections, and compliance assessments while identifying areas for improvement.
  • Perform industrial hygiene monitoring, including air and noise sampling and recordkeeping.
  • Manage hazardous materials transportation compliance, employee training, and shipping oversight.
  • Administer respiratory protection programs, fit testing, and OSHA-required training.
  • Partner with site leadership, emergency response teams, contractors, and external agencies to maintain a safe work environment.

 

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent with technical training in science, safety, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of industrial, manufacturing, or plant safety experience.
  • Experience with OSHA compliance, fire protection systems, emergency response, or industrial hygiene programs.
  • Strong understanding of hazardous materials, DOT regulations, and safety training programs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, reporting, and documentation systems.
  • Excellent communication, training, and problem-solving skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • EMT, Fire Protection, Emergency Response Team (ERT), DOT/IATA, or related certifications.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, chemical processing, or heavy industrial facilities.
