This Chemist role supports the Research & Development (R&D) department through precise chemical testing, sample analysis, and thorough data documentation. You will perform routine and advanced laboratory work, including sample preparation, instrumental analysis, wet chemistry techniques, and report writing. The position emphasizes accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail, while requiring strong proficiency with analytical instruments and adherence to established testing protocols and safety procedures. Responsibilities

  • Prepare, handle, and label chemical samples with a high degree of accuracy, ensuring clear and organized documentation.
  • Perform analytical testing using a range of laboratory instruments, including ICP-OES, Ion Chromatography, SEM-EDS, and Infrared Spectroscopy (IR).
  • Conduct standard wet chemistry techniques for both quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Carry out elemental analysis and material characterization to identify unknown deposits and other sample types.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot analytical instruments to ensure reliable performance and accurate results.
  • Record experimental data clearly, thoroughly, and consistently in laboratory notebooks and digital logs.
  • Compile and organize analytical findings into structured, detailed reports for review by upper level technical staff.
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), laboratory safety guidelines, and good laboratory practices (GLP) at all times.
  • Communicate findings, observations, and issues effectively with the R&D team and contribute to collaborative problem-solving.
  • Perform other related laboratory and documentation duties as assigned to support ongoing research and development projects.

Essential Skills

  • Strong experience in chemistry with a focus on analytical chemistry.
  • Proficiency in operating and interpreting data from ICP-OES (Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectroscopy).
  • Hands-on experience with Ion Chromatography for analytical testing.
  • Ability to use SEM-EDS (Scanning Electron Microscopy with Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy) for material characterization.
  • Skill in performing Infrared Spectroscopy (IR) for qualitative and quantitative analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct standard wet chemistry techniques accurately and consistently.
  • Competence in maintaining, calibrating, and troubleshooting laboratory analytical instruments.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in sample labeling, data recording, and report preparation.
  • Ability to follow established SOPs, GLP, and laboratory safety protocols reliably.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for documenting results and collaborating with R&D staff.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Education or formal training in analytical chemistry or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience supporting research and development activities through chemical testing and sample analysis.
  • Ability to interpret complex analytical data and present findings in a clear, structured format.

Work Environment

This role is based in a laboratory environment that supports research and development activities. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Plant City, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
