Job Description
The Machinist operates and sets up CNC and manual mills and lathes to produce precision components, ensuring high-quality workmanship and adherence to engineering specifications and safety standards.
Responsibilities- Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes to produce parts according to blueprints and job specifications.
- Set up and operate manual mills and lathes for machining operations, including turning, milling, drilling, and boring.
- Interpret and read blueprints to determine dimensions, tolerances, tooling requirements, and machining sequences.
- Perform machine setups on CNC equipment, including installing tooling, setting work offsets, and verifying programs before production runs.
- Use G-code and CNC programming techniques to load, adjust, and run programs on CNC machines as required.
- Monitor machining operations and make adjustments to feeds, speeds, and tool paths to maintain quality and efficiency.
- Inspect finished parts using appropriate measuring tools to ensure they meet blueprint specifications and tolerances.
- Maintain a clean and organized machine shop area, including proper handling and storage of tooling and materials.
- Troubleshoot machining issues on CNC and manual machines and implement corrective actions to improve part quality and machine performance.
- Collaborate with team members to optimize setups, reduce cycle times, and improve overall machining processes.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while operating mills, lathes, and related equipment.
- Hands-on experience as a machinist working with CNC and manual mills and lathes.
- Strong proficiency in operating and setting up CNC machines, including multi-axis equipment.
- Ability to set up and run manual mills and lathes for a variety of machining operations.
- Solid blueprint reading skills, including understanding dimensions, tolerances, and machining symbols.
- Experience with G-code and CNC programming concepts for machining operations.
- Demonstrated ability to perform accurate machine setups, including tooling selection and workholding.
- Knowledge of machine shop practices, tooling, and standard machining processes.
- Capability to inspect parts and verify conformance to specifications using standard measuring tools.
- Familiarity with CNC equipment such as Haas and Mazak machines.
- Understanding of axis controls and CNC machine settings when setting up and running equipment.
- Background or training as a machinist with exposure to both CNC and manual machining.
- Experience working in a machine shop environment with production and job-shop style work.
- Comfort working with various tooling types and optimizing setups for efficiency and quality.
- Ability to adjust CNC programs at the machine to fine-tune operations when necessary.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, precise components.

Work EnvironmentThis role is based in a machine shop environment working with CNC and manual mills and lathes, including equipment such as Haas and Mazak machines. The position operates on a first shift schedule, typically from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with candidates averaging around 50 hours per week. The shop environment is production-oriented and requires adherence to safety procedures and appropriate work attire suitable for a machining and manufacturing setting.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.00 - $36.00/hr.
