Job Description
We are looking for an accomplished operations leader to oversee facilities, maintenance, operational services, and transportation programs for a public-sector educational organization in Monterey County, California. This role will guide critical support functions that help maintain safe, efficient, and regulation-aligned environments across multiple sites. The ideal candidate brings executive-level leadership, strong compliance knowledge, and the ability to align day-to-day operations with long-range organizational priorities.
Responsibilities:
• Direct facility services, maintenance activities, grounds operations, and transportation functions to ensure dependable support across all assigned locations.
• Shape and manage long-term upkeep strategies, including deferred maintenance planning and capital improvement priorities.
• Lead transportation operations with a focus on student safety, service reliability, regulatory adherence, and effective route oversight.
• Establish and reinforce safety programs for trades teams, drivers, and mechanics to promote a secure and compliant workplace.
• Monitor adherence to environmental, accessibility, public safety, and building-related regulations at the federal, state, and local levels.
• Oversee departmental budgets, resource allocation, and financial controls to support efficient and accountable operations.
• Manage recruitment, staff development, performance oversight, and work assignments for facilities, operations, maintenance, and transportation personnel.
• Evaluate service metrics and operational performance data to identify improvements, increase efficiency, and strengthen program outcomes.
• Collaborate with organizational leadership and key stakeholders to advance service quality and support broader operational objectives.

• At least 5 years of leadership experience in facilities, maintenance, operations, transportation, or a closely related environment.• Strong working knowledge of regulatory compliance, audit readiness, and operational standards within a public-sector or similarly regulated setting.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, develop staff, and maintain high performance expectations.
• Experience with budget administration, procurement activities, and formal bidding processes.
• Understanding of transportation compliance requirements and logistics management, ideally in an educational environment.
• Knowledge of maintenance planning, facilities management, and operational coordination across multiple sites.
• Effective communication skills with the ability to present information clearly to leadership, stakeholders, and public-facing groups.
