We are seeking to fill an Equipment Maintenance Helper position for the Burbank Recycling/Material Recovery Facility location.
Position Summary:
Perform inspections, cleaning, maintenance, and repairs of Material Recovery Facility equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Follow safe work practices and adhere to all safety rules and practices.
- Assist and support Equipment Maintenance team and activities.
- Perform inspections, cleaning, maintenance, and repairs of Material Recovery Facility equipment, including balers, conveyors, screens, magnets, etc.
- Perform repair and maintenance of facility building and grounds
- Use hand tools and other equipment for the performance of these activities
- Use a welder, torch, and grinder in the performance of their job
- Work in support of the Equipment Maintenance team and independently on smaller jobs/tasks
- Timely and accurately document work performed on Fleetmate work orders
- Perform other repairs and duties as assigned by management.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Good interpersonal skills
- Good mechanical and electrical skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Good judgment skills.
- Good organizational and cleanliness skills to ensure a safe and organized work area.
- Use hand tools, portable power tools, and other equipment as needed.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- One (1) year of previous equipment maintenance and repair experience required
- Vocational school and/or training in equipment maintenance and repair preferred
- Previous experience in the use of hand and small power tools/equipment.
PHYSICAL:
- Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, and kneel for long periods of time.
- Must be able to lift to 50 lbs.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Will be exposed to moderate noise and dust levels.
- Work in outdoor areas and be exposed to weather conditions—heat, cold, rain, and wind.
