Job Description
Duties:
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues on presses and blenders in Molding: i.e. controller not functioning, proximity switches not working, rack switches, gate switches, nozzle heaters, heat detectors, pump or clamp not working properly, safety gates, switches and devices, thermocouple repair/replacement, etc.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues in Lining and Palletizing: i.e. feed eyes not working, elevator wiring, camera power supply and belt, camera reject eye, strobe not working, glue sensors, Alan Bradley system,
  • Miscellaneous electrical troubleshooting: i.e. verify voltage, power outage, wiring/rewiring, fuse/circuit breakers, drives, encoders, sensors, breakers, switches, motors, e-stops, interlocks, etc.
  • Fabrication of electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Controller PM and calibration.
  • Maintenance of programmable logic controllers, relays, contactors, motor starters, and other related equipment.
  • Verify, repair or replace e-stop and interlock functions on all equipment.
  • Read schematics and wire, rewire as needed.
  • Access NRC-0 and NRC-1 rated electrical panels.
  • Disconnect or shut off electrical current for NRC-2 or NRC-3 rated panels.
  • Update one-line drawings and verify Arc Flash and NRC rating of panels are properly and correctly labeled.
  • Identify Arc Flash boundaries for high-risk areas.
  • Assist with identifying appropriate LOTO requirements for isolating energy sources on equipment. Verify no current with approved Fluke meter.
  • General mechanical duties as requested including operation of basic hand tools.
  • Follow all safety procedures while performing tasks such as Hot Work, Confined Space, LOTO, Electrical Safety, etc.
  • Complete Work Orders and document work (electronic or paper)
  • Promote plant goal’s, such as Safety/Housekeeping, Quality, ISO, and GMP.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Education and/or Experience
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and twelve months related.
  • experience and/or training; or a combination of education and experience of at least.
  • twenty-four months.
  • Electrical safety and arc flash training per NEC, NFPA70E, OSHA and IEEE1584. Herzig Engineering test score of at least 80.
  • Certain duties require licensing from a recognized electrical body or Herzig test score of at least 90.
Qualifications
  • Must be able to read schematics.
  • Ability to obtain a forklift license.

  • Noise exposure over 90 decibels.

  • Exposure to electrical circuits, electrical shock or static electricity.
  • Possible exposure to hot or abrasive surfaces.

PPE and GMP Requirements while on shop floor:
  • PPE: Company provided ear plugs or ear muffs. Company approved safety glasses. Hard hat. Steel-toe/safety shoes.
  • Cotton clothing. Arc-rated PPE if required for the task.
  • GMP: long sleeves, long pants, hairnet, beard net, if applicable.
This applies to all areas of the shop floor (Manufacturing, Warehouse, Maintenance and Tool Room.)
