Job Description
A finish carpenter installs the detailed woodwork and fixtures that give interiors their final, polished appearance. This includes trim, doors, cabinetry, molding, stairs, built-ins, and other millwork after framing and major construction are complete.
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Finish Carpenter to measure, fabricate, install, and repair high-quality interior finish work for residential and/or commercial projects. The ideal candidate is experienced on luxury homes and is precise, dependable, able to read plans, and committed to clean workmanship, safe job sites, and meeting project schedules.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and work orders
- Measure, mark, cut, shape, assemble, and install finish materials accurately
- Install baseboards, crown molding, casing, wainscoting, decorative trim, and other millwork
- Hang and adjust exterior and interior doors; install frames, hardware, locks, and trim
- Install cabinets, countertop supports, shelving, custom built-ins, and finish carpentry fixtures
- Build or install stair components, handrails, balusters, and related trim
- Scribe, fit, sand, caulk, patch, and make final adjustments to achieve a clean finished appearance
- Inspect completed work for alignment, gaps, damage, smooth operation, and overall quality
- Repair or replace damaged trim, doors, cabinetry, and other finished woodwork
- Use hand tools, power tools, nail guns, saws, levels, and measuring equipment safely
- Coordinate with supervisors, contractors, clients, and other trades to complete work on schedule
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area; follow applicable building codes and safety requirements
- Work efficiently while maintaining high-quality standards
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a finish carpenter, including 5 years with luxury homes
- Previous experience in finish, trim, cabinet, or residential/commercial interior carpentry
- Strong ability to read blueprints and use tape measures, levels, squares, and layout tools
- Proficiency with common hand and power tools
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and workmanship standards
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with a project team
- Physical ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift construction materials
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required
Preferred Skills
- Cabinet installation and custom built-in construction.
- Door and hardware installation
- Stair and railing installation
- Knowledge of wood species, finishes, stains, and paint-ready preparation
- Familiarity with construction drawings, jobsite safety practices, and local building codes
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and work for extended periods
- Ability to lift and carry materials and tools
- Ability to work from ladders and other elevated work areas
- Ability to safely perform physically demanding carpentry tasks
Compensation: Starting $30.00/hour, based on experience
Location: Paradise Valley, AZ
